Blooms of Change Mural

OCTOBER 2024 | MOUNT BARKER, SA

Continuing their mission to provide necessary resources and spread awareness to end period poverty within the community, the Mount Barker District Council commissioned this meaningful mural which discusses menstruation.

The ‘Blooms of Change’ mural aims to foster understanding and appreciation for how menstruation can be an important and complex experience affecting so many people directly and indirectly. This mural conveys the message that we are moving as a community towards an environment with less stigma associated with periods.

The design reflects a playful and free energy, features a range of local native flowers and depicts human figures in poses of freedom and celebration. Menstrual products including cups, pads and tampons have been incorporated into the florals and clouds depicted in the mural.

This mural was made possible thanks to the Mount Barker District Council and the support of the Commissioner’s Period Justice Grants program.
